Republican Charles William “Bill” Young, Florida’s Longest serving member of Congress died on Friday at the age of 82. Young died at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, he had been hospitalized for back issues originating from a crash in 1970.
Young had announced recently that he would not seek a 23rd term representing the Tampa Bay Area. His career started at the age of 22 in 1960. A long time member of the House Appropriations Committee, Young focused on military spending. He is survived by his wife, Beverly and their three kids.
